Occupational Specific Food Industry Training (OSFIT) Program

The Occupational Specific Food Industry Training (OSFIT) program is funded by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and aims to provide eligible women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) backgrounds skills to gain employment or start their own business within the hospitality industry, or further study a Certificate III course at TAFE. Participants will develop skills employers in the food industry seek and learn safe use of commercial kitchen equipment, food hygiene and safety procedures as well as explore sustainability. Training in English, computer skills, resume preparation, job seeking tools is also incorporated.
Training is facilitated by a diverse range of providers in order to prepare participants for work with key focus on
• career planning
• interview techniques and skills
• cultural transition
• first aid awareness
• financial wellbeing and starting a small business.
In addition to employment preparation, participants who successfully complete the program will have gained:
• 5 Recognized Online Training certificates in the Food Industry
• 2 Employment Units – Cert III in EAL – TAFE Course
• 4 Units - Commercial Kitchen Skill Set – TAFE Course
Eligibility requirements
This program is free and open to women from CaLD backgrounds who have completed a minimum Level three English and hold a current Centrelink concession card.
