Emergency Relief
Multicultural Disability Services Program
MSC receives funding from Lotterwest to provide emergency relief to support eligible CaLD clients who need immediate financial aid/help
Many migrants, refugees, humanitarian entrants and others of CaLD background are facing serious financial difficulty due to the increasingly disproportionate difference between Centrelink benefits or other income and costs of rent and utilities.
Immediate financial need may result from one or more of the following:
- Unemployment/Underemployment
- Mental health issues
- Sickness, disability
- Debt Issues (Bankruptcy, over-committed credit debts)
- Family crisis/breakdown
Assistance is provided by way of food vouchers, essential groceries or contribution towards outstanding utilities bills.
Clients are also assisted with advocacy and referrals to appropriate services for further support and budgeting assistance where required/requested.
